Born December 22, 1915 in Ridgeway, Wisconsin to Edith (Fairbanks) Morgan and Chester Pond Morgan, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in February of this year, her parents, an older brother, Philip Fairbanks Morgan, and a grandson, Eric David Spradling.   She is survived by her son David Spradling and David's wife Maryanne Larson Spradling of Pacific Grove, California, grandson Christopher Spradling, a student at Sonoma State University in California, niece Nedra (Morgan) Wicks of Minneapolis, and nephew Paul Morgan of Rochester, NY.  Betty was a much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  A graduate of Wisconsin Teachers College, Whitewater (now UW Whitewater), followed by graduate studies at the University of Colorado, Betty taught high school commercial classes at Walworth, WI.  As the US entered WWII, Betty responded to a plea by the US Army Air Corps for teachers to enlist in a training program to teach aircraft radio operators.  After training at St. Louis University she was assigned to teach at Madison's Truax Field.  In 1943, she married Joseph Spradling, who was attending UW Madison pending assignment to an Army Air Corps training program.  When the Air Corps sent him to Yale University for technical training, Betty joined him there and was employed as secretary to the Chair of the Dept. of Psychiatry at Yale.  In Ardmore, Oklahoma, Betty served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the local Rationing Board while her husband was stationed at the B-17 training base.   Betty has resided in Madison since the end of WWII.  During those years Betty has been active as a Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout leader, a board member of PTA associations, the Republican Women of Dane County, the Madison Civics Club, and the PEO philanthropic organization.  She has been a member of the Plymouth and First Congregational Churches, and Covenant Presbyterian Church.  It is Betty's request that there be no immediate memorial service.
