Madison, WI - Beverly Bernice Johnson Buzzetti left this world to meet her heavenly Father, January 12, 2009, at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI. During her final hours, she was surrounded by her loving husband of 66 years, Romaine Buzzetti and their children. Beverly was born, January 9, 1920 in Dows, IA, the daughter of Otis and Minnie Gertrude Johnson. She remembered her childhood years, not for the hardships of the Great Depression, but for the creativity of her parents to make ends meet and to bring joy into daily living. She learned to play the piano and to sing beautifully. The homemaking skills she learned early on from her mother served her well later when she had her own family. As a teen, she met Romaine Buzzetti from Williams, IA, at a church youth gathering. Their fondness for each other grew and years later, on August 31, 1941, they were married in Reno, NV. She followed her husband, a WWII navy officer, from coast to coast and later lived with her parents until the birth of their first child and the end of the war. Beverly then moved to Ames, IA. There she lived in ISU's married student housing, Pamel Court. Her husband was completing his education on the GI Bill. Upon graduation, the couple moved to Alden, IA, where they nurtured a growing family of 5 children. Beverly helped with the family business, served as the United Methodist Church children's choir director for over 25 years, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the 3 M Club (Mr. and Mrs. Methodist) and a member of a women's choral group in Iowa Falls, In 1978, she moved to Bella Vista, AR, for retirement. She was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church and sang in the church choir. Beverly moved to Madison, WI in 2001, where she lived at Oakwood East. Beverly is remembered by her family and friends for her kindness, readiness for fun, great spaghetti sauce, love of music and dance and unwavering spiritual faith. Beverly is survived by her husband, Romaine, daughters Ramona (Alan) Becker of Madison, Diana (Byron) Boysen of Mooers, NY, sons Robert (Gina) Buzzetti of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Anthony (Lori) Buzzetti of Indianapolis, IN, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is pre deceased by her parents Otis and Minnie Gertrude Johnson, her son, Jeffrey Buzzetti and her brother, Carl Johnson. Memorials may be given to Bella Vista Community Church, or Dr. Grace O. Doane Alden Public Library. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
