Beverly Gehrke

SUN PRAIRIE—Beverly J. Gehrke, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She was born on April 9, 1938 to Leonard and Arlene (Schuetze) Homburg who lived in Cottage Grove.  Bev graduated from Madison East High School in 1956.

Shortly after high school, she married Richard Ziegler, and they bought a farm in North Bristol.  Bev went on to take a job at Dane County Small Claims Court where she worked for over 30 years.

After the divorce, Bev built a home in Sun Prairie.  In 1985, she met the next love of her life, Gene Gehrke, and they married on July 19, 1986.  They spent their time blending their families together through camping trips, cook outs, and family get-togethers.  Bev and Gene also traveled around the U.S., and both she and Gene worked at the Sun Prairie Food Pantry.

Bev is survived by her children Michael Gehrke (Beverly), Gene Richard Gehrke (Jill), Lauri Ziegler-Henderson (Jack), David Ziegler (Wendy), Marjorie Moldren (John), and Jeff Gehrke; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one on the way.  She is further survived by her sister Jan Hoff; and brothers-in-law Richard Gehrke (Carol) and Gary Gehrke; and many other relatives and dear friends.

Bev was preceded in death by her loving husband Gene; daughter Marcie Gehrke; granddaughter Jessica Moldrem; parents Leonard and Arlene Homburg; and in-laws Gordon and Ann Gehrke.

Visitation will be from 4-5:30 PM on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Cress SUN PRAIRIE with a funeral service to follow at 5:30 PM.  Please share your memories on Bev’s tribute wall at www.cressfuneralservice.com.
