Beverly Young

July 23, 1923 — March 2, 2017

MADISON - Beverly O. Young, age 93, passed away on March 1. Beverly was a beautiful and great person. Some may have known her as one of the founders of National Alliance on Mental Illness, while others knew her as a fabulous mother or wonderful friend. No doubt, she always smiled, was upbeat and loved people, and that never changed over the course of her life. She was born in Appleton, WI in 1923, to Robert and Lola Olson. She married Wayne F. Young in 1947 after meeting at an ice cream store in Madison. They lived in Madison, and then later moved to Verona, where they raised three boys, Wayne D., Drew (Polly), and Paul (Gail). Her children will miss her amazing, unwavering devotion. Beverly loved to swim at her cabin in Manitowish Waters, read about politics and Wisconsin history, and enjoyed black coffee and red wine. Beverly was especially fond of her two grandchildren Tyler and Alec, and they loved her as much as she loved them. Beverly is survived by her three siblings Jayme Olson (Neenah), Harry Olson (California), and Louise Kakaria (California). You could not ask for a better, warmer human being than Beverly Young. Thanks Mom. Thanks Grandma. We love you. A memorial service will be held at OAKWOOD VILLAGE UNIVERSITY WOODS, RESURRECTION CHAPEL 6205 Mineral Point Road on March 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to a worthwhile non-profit.
