Bhakti Lal Bataju, age 90, of Madison, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at his son's home in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born on January 18, 1929 in Pokhara, Nepal, the son of Gokul Lal Bataju and Nani Beti. He married Tak Kumari, who unfortunately passed away over three decades ago.
Bhakti grew up taking care of his large family in Nepal. With his sharp mind, he was able to successfully bring his many different business ideas to life. Bhakti was a vibrant member of the community, donating time and resources for building temples in Kathmandu and Pokhara as well as providing educational scholarships. While he spent much of his life in Nepal, he was also well known in Madison, WI, where he lived with his son and family. Always ready with a bright smile and warm embrace, Bhakti enjoyed singing ceremonial hymns and spending time with his grandchildren. His infectious laughter and positive energy will be remembered and sorely missed by all.
Funeral services and visitation will be held at 6021 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53705 on Sunday, May 19th at 12:00 pm.
