Bonita Lou Bogle peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Monday, August 17th, 2009. She was born to Bonita G. and George A. Lacey in Des Moines, Iowa, October 2, 1929. She graduated from Lincoln High School, attended Western College for Women in Ohio, and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines with a degree in Education. She taught kindergarten in Des Moines until 1955.   In 1951 she married her childhood sweetheart, John P. Bogle Jr., also of Des Moines. They raised two sons, John (Jock) and Kirk in Urbandale, Iowa. In 1968 they moved to Sun Prairie.   Bonita's greatest joy in life was in raising and supporting her family. She was the woman behind the scenes, supporting her husband John throughout his career and civic activities. She took an active role in raising her sons and grandchildren, offering wisdom and unflagging support. She was a strong woman, battling serious health problems through much of her life without complaint.   Bonita was a frequent volunteer at her sons' schools, and with husband John and band director Ray Hawkinson formed the Sun Prairie Band Boosters. In 1976, in memory of their son Jock, Bonita and John established the Jock Bogle Memorial Scholarship for promising Sun Prairie High School students majoring in music. She was a member of the Twentieth Century Club and also devoted considerable time to the American Cancer Society, eventually serving as the local chapter president   Her family is grateful for the loving care Bonita was given by Dr. Gregory Motl, the staff at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center, St. Mary's Hospital, and HospiceCare where she spent her final days in dignity and comfort.   Bonita was preceded in death by her mother and father, her beloved son Jock, and her loving husband John. She is survived by her son Kirk, daughter in law Julie, grandchildren John IV, Kirk Jr. (Millie), Libbie and Harrison Bogle. She is also survived by her sister Ellen Cioccio, brother George Lacey, nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.   Services will be held at 4:00 pm Friday, August 21 at CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD  3416 Swansee Ridge where friends may call from  3 p.m. until time of service.  Internment and a dinner will follow.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Sun Prairie Band Boosters or HospiceCare.
