Bonnie Hendrickson

Bonnie Hendrickson, age 85, died at Agrace Hospice on January 16, 2014, after a long illness. Bonnie was born in LaCrosse, Wis. on June 28, 1928 to Ellen and Leonard Byers. She married Duane Hendrickson on April 21, 1958.
A long-time resident of Madison, Bonnie was an artist, and a long-time supporter of the arts community, including Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoC) and the Chazen Museum. Up until recently, she continued to paint and draw. She had a keen sense of fashion, and an avid interest in antiques and was known for her decorating flair. Bonnie and her husband Duane traveled extensively to Europe, Mexico Central America and South America including to their condo in Santa Marta, Colombia. In addition to traveling abroad, she enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Lake Michigan in Door County, Wis.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1952, with a degree in interior design. After college, she traveled and worked in London and in Europe for a few months. Then, she moved to Minneapolis to work for Dayton's department store, as an interior designer. Bonnie also worked for American Airlines in Chicago as a reservationist. Bonnie moved back to Madison to work for as an interior decorator for Hendrickson Incorporated, where she met her future husband Duane.
She is survived by her husband Duane, children Tanja (Ernesto) Castro of Arlington, VA,; Lisa (Robert) Hendrickson-deBruin of Port Washington, NY, and Leif of Madison, along with grandchildren Kaia deBruin, Laura deBruin and Kristen Castro--and her sister Donna Junghans.
Visitation will be held at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison, WI, 53703 on Sunday, Jan. 19 from 4-6 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 20th at 11 a.m., at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1833 Regent Street, Madison, WI 53726.
