Brian Mirus

Madison- Brian P. Mirus, age 47, passed away on February 22, 2018. He was born in Elkhorn, WI on July 24, 1970, the son of Edward and Karen (Nelson) Mirus. Brian grew up with his parents and siblings, Kevin and Vicki, in Ravenswood Subdivision, and spent many happy early years playing in the woods out back and on the shores of Lake Delavan, going on regular family vacations, and trying to tune the aerial to Chicago television stations for the latest episode of Spiderman. Brian graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in 1988, where he participated in football, swimming, and forensics. He earned an Associate's Degree in Electronics from Madison Area Technical College in 1990. Brian worked for Radio Shack, and for the last 15 years, at Johnson Health Tech North America. Brian worked his way up to Quality Manager by means of his keen intellect and strong work ethic. It was for Johnson that Brian took the first of many trips to China.
Brian's travel stories from China became the stuff of family legend, and opened the eyes of his nieces and nephews to how big this world really is. The tales of "Crazy Uncle Brian's" adventurous meals, his visit to see the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian, his bicycle ride on The Great Wall of China, and his many other excursions to places including Beijing, the Gobi Desert, and the Yellow Mountain kept us all in rapt attention.
Brian is survived by his brother Kevin (Jennifer) Mirus and nieces Emmerson, Sawyer, and Skylar Mirus of Madison; sister Vicki (Brian) Kaminski and nephews Alex Kaminski of Brookfield, Bryan Kaminski of Baltimore and Matthew Kaminski of Phoenix; uncles Mark (Darlene) Nelson and Mitchell (Jan) Mirus, and cousins Amy (Christopher) Brittain, Ryan (Lacy Jo) Mirus, and Melissa Mirus.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents Edward and Amelie (Witkowski) Mirus, and maternal grandparents Philip and Viola (Konkas) Nelson.
A celebration of Brian's life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 11:30 A.M. at CRESS CENTER, 6021 University Avenue, Madison, WI, 53705. There will be a visitation beforehand from 9:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
