Brian Williamson

February 3, 1938 — March 15, 2012

Madison - Brian E. Williamson, age 74 passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was born Feb3, 1938 in Wichita, Kansas to Walter C. and Ernestine (Sibert) Williamson. His family moved to Madison, where he attended schools, graduated from Madison East High School and attended UW-Madison in the ROTC program. He was a member of Air National Guard, had his private pilot's license and belonged to the Air Guard Flying Club. Brian was a letter carrier, employed by the USPS, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. Brian liked watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers and enjoyed going to a game once in awhile. He also attended the annual EAA Convention on a regular basis for many years and was an avid collector of model airplanes. Brian married Beverly Ann (Roth) on November 18, 1960. They had three children: Amy, Dennis, and Jennifer. While his children were young, Brian was active in the PTA at Sandburg Elementary School and also in the MSCR Basketball program at the school. The family had many weekend adventures, always staying at the hotel closest to the airport so he could watch the planes, and no trip was complete without a visit to the local airport or flight museum. They did a lot of traveling in the VW and later in the station wagon, but especially enjoyed the trips where Brian put his pilot's license to work and flew the family around Lake Superior. Bev preceded him in death in 1978. Brian married Karen (Klatt) Tyler on August 3, 1990. They also enjoyed traveling, including trips to both Hawaii and Europe, and many trips to visit grandchildren up north in Eagle River and down south in Texas. Brian's love of flying was evident in all aspects of his life. His sense of humor and ability to tell stories and talk with everyone he met will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Williamson; children: Amy (Larry) Johanning of Madison; Dennis (Addie) Williamson of Pearland, TX and Jennifer (Byron Chase) Williamson of Madison; step-children: Kay (Jim Maier) Peltier of Madison and Tod (Trista) Tyler of Eagle River; grandchildren: Jenna, Jessica and Evan Johanning; Samantha and Joshua Williamson; Lily and Rose Tyler; brother, Neil (Linda) Williamson; brother & sister-in-laws: Darrel & Shirley (Roth) Schwenn, and Judy Vesper.
