Stoughton- Bruce A. Johnson, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born in Stoughton on March 23, 1930, the son of Halvor and Charlotte Johnson. Bruce attended Stoughton High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. Upon his return to Stoughton Bruce worked a variety of jobs. He met his future wife at the Stoughton Restaurant while working as a milkman. On January 16, 1954 Bruce married Alice Kane at St. Ann Catholic Church. For many years they ran Johnson's Carpet Service together. They were active members of St. Ann Parish. Bruce was an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed the Badgers, Packers, Brewers and Home Talent. He enjoyed socializing and could be found anywhere he could find a cup of coffee. Bruce took pride in hard work and will be missed by all who knew him. He is lovingly survived by his seven children, Deborah (Jason) Sornson of Florida, Laura Woodhouse of Fitchburg, Kathryn (Al) Lindler of South Carolina, Joanne (Robert) Thom of Lake Mills, Al (Sue) Johnson of Illinois, Connie (Clayton) Geno of Minnesota and Patty Johnson of Stoughton; nine grandchildren, Bryan (Jana), Todd and Erik (Jeremy Salas) Woodhouse, Bonnie and Andrew (Heather) Lindler, Jakki and Kenzie Johnson, Ryan Thom and Trevor Geno; five great grandchildren, Ethan, Andrew, Caileigh, Nathaniel, and Gregory; sisters, Virginia Doherty and Cheri Jones; and extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 42 years, Alice; brothers, DuWayne, Larry and Michael; and sister, Paddy Argueta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 28, 2017 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 323 N. Van Buren Street, Stoughton, with Father Randy Budnar officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to a luncheon, in the church fellowship hall, immediately following. Private burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, and from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at church on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann Parish, Heartland Hospice, or a local animal shelter.
