Stoughton- Buford 'Sonny' E. Burlingame, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Willow-pointe Memory Care in Stoughton. He was born in Stoughton on November 9, 1931, a son of Buford Lee and Melvie O. (Johnson) Burlingame. He graduated from Stoughton High School, and worked at the UW Medical School as an animal caretaker. Sonny loved to work with his hands and spent much of his life helping others. He was brave, determined and had a heart of gold. Sonny enjoyed country music and travelling to Nashville and to Arizona. He is survived by his sister, Jean Nygaard, Oregon; nephew Steve (Sue) Nygaard, Stoughton; 2 nieces, Teresa King , Oregon and Susan Nygaard (Special friend Francis), Sun Prairie; 2 great nieces, Mallory and Michelle; and a great nephew, Tom. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, and by his dogs Pal and Tiny. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton with the Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Stoughton. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 1 from 4:00 to 7:00pm, and again on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service. -Special thanks to the staff at Willow-pointe for their loving care-
