Burdette (Burt) Phillips (84) passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021. He was born to Mildred (Lipska) and Benjamin Phillips on June 6, 1937 in Dodgeville, WI. He was a hard-working man who built 3 of his homes, painted barns, trimmed trees, farmed, became an iron worker and an over-the-road semi-driver.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and restoring old vehicles. He was a joke teller, great dancer, and well-known in dance halls far and near and self-proclaimed as “Burt the Flirt”. He also loved to share his knowledge of the Bible with all who would listen. In later years, Burt enjoyed watching westerns on his big screen.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Lynn Heneghan, his half-brother, Eugene Tremelling, his former wife, Martha Phillips, who lovingly helped raise his family, and grandson Keith Limric. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney, his half-brothers, Brian and Michael, his parents and Charlotte, the mother of his children.
A memorial service will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Saturday, October 30th from noon to 2:00 pm with a time of sharing to begin at 1:00 pm, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
