MADISON - Carl Eric Yde (49) passed away unexpectedly on October 17th 2014. Born in Madison, Wisconsin on December 26, 1964, Carl was a lifelong resident of Madison. He attended Orchard Ridge Elementary School, Madison, Memorial High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS and an MBA.
Carl lived a very active and involved life, and enthusiastically embraced every challenge with hard work, intellect and a phenomenal sense of humor. He was the best kind of friend and had no enemies. His love for his wife and his two children was abundant, and they were always the number one priority in his life. Loved and admired by his large extended family and a wide range of friends from every walk of life, he was an incredibly generous leader in giving his time and talents to many worthy causes in the community, charitable organizations and his church. An avid outdoorsman all of his life, Carl loved to spend time fishing, hunting and camping with his family and friends; and was especially happy when sharing these experiences with his kids. He had a passion for Hockey, and was a Goalie for most of his playing career ---from the Madison Westside Flyers, to the Madison Capitols, to the Madison Memorial Spartans, and ultimately playing as a reserve for his beloved Wisconsin Badgers in college. He continued to play as an adult on various men's leagues and "old man's hockey" (as he referred to it) and was a big fan of the NHL.
Carl has been involved with a variety of entrepreneurial ventures throughout his life and was most recently employed by iHeartMEDIA as an Account Executive, where he enjoyed much success and formed many lasting friendships.
Carl is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lynn (Wallman) Yde; son Donald; daughter Lola Marie; brothers, Richard Yde Jr. (Katie) of Madison, Mark Yde (Lisa) of Indiana, Paul Yde (Sarah Elder) of Maryland; sisters, Linda (Tom) Holmes of Madison and Helen (Greg) Brown of Marshfield WI; and many loving cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Richard Sr. and Lola Yde; his brother Jan "J.R."(Julie) Yde of South Dakota; and his nephew, Jorgen Yde of South Dakota, (who was the inspiration for Carl's many fundraising efforts on behalf of Leukemia and childhood cancer).
A Celebration of Carl's Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison with Reverend Randy Hunter to officiate. A reception will follow. Family will greet friends from Noon until the time of service.
