Carol Marie Baker, 74, died at a Verona nursing home on Sunday, November 20 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born on April 18, 1937 in Alta, IA to the Rev. Kurt and Marie (Quade) Horn. Carol spent her childhood in Iowa and Wausau where she graduated from Wausau High School. She later attended Valparaiso Univ. and Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison. She married David Baker on 8-23-1959 and was blessed to be the mother of four children. She was a long-time member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She will be remembered for her bright blue eyes and easy laugh.
She is survived by her husband, David; children: Gregory (Jane), Verona; Douglas (Bridget), Shorewood; Cynthia (Corey) Pemberton, Prairie du Sac; Bradley, Fort Atkinson and eight grandchildren; Paul, Preston, Morgan, Joni, Thomas, (all Baker) A.J. Pemberton, Gabe Pemberton, Dayne Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Derek Horn.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 110 N. Whitney Way on Tuesday, November 29. Visitation at the church from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Funeral at 11:00 a.m. with lunch following.
