Madison -- Carol Ann Howell, age 75 passed away at her home on Friday, February 5, 2010 with her family by her side.  She was born on October 7, 1934 in Tomahawk, Wisconsin the daughter of George and Helen (Seidel) Gahan.  Known to her family as Pretty Grandma, she treasured her weekly PG days with her grandsons and phone conversations with her granddaughter. She had a special way of enriching lives of family and friends, even those who had brief encounters. Her creative abilities were admired and valued, whether it was over the top parties, food or flowers.  She made the world a better place and taught us all forgiveness.  Carol Ann is survived by her son; Christopher (Michelle) Crabs of Fitchburg , three grandchildren; Emma, Christian and Logan . She is also survived by many other loving family and friends .  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband C. Maxwell Howell and cherished sister; Virgene Gahan.   Family and friends are invited to a life celebration at the Goodman Center , 149 Waubesa Street , Madison on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2pm -5pm .  In lieu of flowers, a silent auction will be held to raise donations for a memorial at Henry Vilas Zoo / Madison's Children's Museum.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to home hospice and especially to her care providers Minda Policapo and Amy Uren for all the special love and attention given to Carol Ann.
