Whitewater - Carol D. Hummel, age 55, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2011 at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was the daughter of Norbert and Theresa Mitzelfeldt. Carol attended UW Oshkosh, majoring in music, with emphasis in piano, voice, oboe, and musical theater. She balanced her motherhood with her musical career as a pianist and musical director. Carol played for numerous shows for High Schools, University recitals and community theater groups. Most recently, she played for the Madison Ballet, the Lakeland Players, and Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. She is survived by 4 sons, Chris, Andy, Nick and Alex Hummel; her mother, Theresa of Fond du lac; brother, David (Carol) Mitzelfeldt of Onalaska; sister, Maxine (Mel) Mueller of Lakewood, CA; 3 nieces; an abundance of loving friends; and her church family. She was preceded in death by her father. Celebration of life services will be held at noon on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, N 2895 County Hwy E in Palmyra, WI 53156, with the Rev. Laura Nordstrom officiating. The family will greet friends at church on Saturday the 27th from 10:00 am until the time of services. Memorials may be made to a memorial fund in care of the family.
