Middleton: Carol L. Kroehn, age 76, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 surrounded by the love of her family. Carol was born January 14, 1937, the daughter of Bentley and Frieda (Stegemann) Herbst in Milwaukee.
She graduated from Custer High School, and was united in marriage to her dearest and best friend, Thomas A. Kroehn on November 17, 1956. Carol lived the first 40 years of her life in the Milwaukee area until the family moved to the Madison / Middleton area. She was employed by the State Bar of Wisconsin until her retirement in 1994.
Carol was a loving and fully devoted wife, mother and friend. Among her many gifts, she excelled at bringing to life and nurturing her flower gardens, and making a house a warm and loving home to all. She delighted in traveling and sharing the adventures of life with Tom. Carol liked to golf, was an avid Elvis fan, and adored the Packers. She joyfully volunteered at the Middleton Library, the Agrace HospiceCare Thrift Shop and Midvale Community Lutheran Church, where she was a faithful member, sharing God's love with others.
Her steadfast spirit and loving soul were embraced by all who knew her. Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Tom; her loving children, Kathleen (David) Krause, Mary Ann (Brian) Buenzow, and Jim (Dawn) Kroehn; cherished grandchildren Rachel, Ashley, Justin, Clara, Emma, Marie, and Rory; her sister, Jane Gundlach, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gerald and Patricia Kroehn. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law Ted Gundlach. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at MIDVALE COMMUNITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, WI, 53711, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Midvale Community Lutheran Church or Agrace HospiceCare.
