Carol Sattler

Madison - Carol Ann Sattler, 69, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Madison on November 16, 2015.

Carol was born in Falls Creek, PA to James and Lucille Hinderliter on September 23, 1946. She graduated from DuBois Area High School in 1964 and earned a B.A. degree in Biology from Thiel College in 1968. She received a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado where she met her husband Gerald (Jerry). The two wed in DuBois, PA on August 8th, 1971. Thereafter, Carol embarked on her life's work as an Electron Microscopist and well published cancer researcher while working for the University of Wisconsin-Madison for over 30 years. In her personal time she had a passion for cooking, dining with friends and colleagues, and supporting her sons in their many activities.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, James and Lucille. She is survived by her husband Jerry; her sister Judy Hinderliter-Smith (David) of Durham, NC; her sons Matthew (Cathy) of Fort Collins, CO, and Andrew (Katie) of Milwaukee, WI; and two granddaughters, Anna and Andi.

A Memorial Service will be held at Midvale Community Lutheran Church, 4329 Tokay Blvd in Madison on November 30, 2015. The service will be at 11:00 following a visitation at 10:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Oakwood Foundation, 6201 Mineral Point Rd, Madison, WI 53705. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Oakwood Village for their support in her final months.
