Schutt, Carol Ann (Tygum) McFarland- Carol Ann (Tygum) Schutt, age 74, of McFarland, Wisconsin passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center and Ellen and Peter Johnson HospiceCare Residence in Fitchburg, Wisconsin following a courageous fight with cancer. Carol was born in Madison, Wisconsin on December 18, 1934; she was the daughter of E.M.(Al) and Wilna (Billie) Tygum. Carol graduated from Madison West High School in 1952. She attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio for two years and went on to earn her Bachelors Degree in Education (Speech Therapy) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. While attending UW-Madison, she was an active member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. Carol met and married her husband of 52 years, Donald Arthur Schutt, while attending UW-Madison.   They were married on June 22, 1957 in Madison. Carol and Don purchased their first home in Racine, Wisconsin where they lived for 44 years raising their three sons and working in education. Carol was a beloved and talented speech therapist and high school English / study skills teacher who excelled at connecting with her students and motivating them to exceed all expectations. She worked for Racine County, the Racine Vocational School, St. Bonaventure High School, and St. Catherine's High School. Carol was a lifelong Bridge player and steadfast sports fan who not only diligently supported her husband's high school basketball teams and her son's various athletic teams, but also took on coaching duties for her son's softball teams. Following their retirements from teaching, Carol and Don returned to the Madison area.   Carol reveled in their return to Madison and especially enjoyed being closer to her sons' families. She was a loving grandmother and remained an avid Badger sports fan. Carol and Don also spent part of each year in Sun City West, Arizona. She was an active member of Luther Memorial Church ( Madison, Wisconsin), Atonement Lutheran Church ( Racine, Wisconsin), Lord of Life Lutheran Church (Sun City West, Arizona), Bethel Lutheran Church ( Madison, Wisconsin), and McFarland Lutheran Church ( McFarland, Wisconsin). Her lifetime of service, noteworthy deeds, and selfless giving to others will not be forgotten.
