Carole Shillito

Waunakee: Carole Shillito passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2025. She was born September 13, 1945, in Hempstead, NY. Carole attended Carle Place High School and later attended Green Mountain College in Vermont where she loved to ski. She began her career working at Pan Am and retired as CEO of JC Estimating Company. 

Carole loved all things sports and having a good time with friends. She especially loved watching her kids play sports. You could usually find Carole standing on the side of a field, mat, or track watching her daughter Tracy or son Scott participate in one of many sports. 

Carole grew up an avid NY Giants fan and developed a deep love for the Wisconsin Badgers after both her children became Badgers themselves. After moving to Wisconsin she developed a love for the Green Bay Packers. You could always rely on Carole to recap the day’s game for you, even if you didn’t want her to because you hadn’t watched it yet. 

Carole settled even more into Wisconsin when she served as president of the Women’s Auxiliary at the American Legion in Westport, WI. Carole was passionate about all the events they put on and doing as much as she could to help veterans. She made many friends through the legion and had some great stories.

Carole is survived by her son, Scott (Jessica) Duttkin, and daughter Tracy (Mike Spontak) Duttkin, grandson Colton Duttkin, and granddaughters, Chloe Duttkin and Tatum Spontak, her sister, Deborah (Dan Phillips) Shillito, and many relatives and dear friends; Jean Ackerman, Katie Platt, and Jean Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Shillito, and her brother Charles Shillito. 

A Celebration of Carole’s life will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the American Legion Post 481, 5337 River Rd., Waunakee, WI 53597.
