Caroline Joan Lippincott

June 26, 1940 — September 15, 2024

Madison

Caroline Joan Lippincott passed away on September 15, 2024 in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 84.

She was born in Stephen, Minnesota on June 26, 1940 to Roman and Regina Kuznia.

Caroline attended the University of North Dakota, where she received her degree in Education. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis and started teaching. Her passion for teaching eventually led her to get a job in Great Falls, Montana where she met her future husband, Howard, who was stationed at Malstrom Air Force Base.

They were married in 1965 and moved from Great Falls to Madison, Wisconsin. They started their family and made their home on the near westside where she lived until the end of her life. She had a lifelong love of travel and traveled all over the world. But she also enjoyed spending time in the home that was so precious to her, sitting in the backyard and working in the garden.

A devoted wife, mother and nana, Caroline cherished the time she spent with family. She was also a caring friend who always had a smile or hug and time to talk or send a card to stay connected.

She is survived by her husband, Howard, daughters Ann Lippincott and Ellen (Chris) Gabel and granddaughter Wren.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at UW Hospital Trauma and Life Support Center for all their compassionate care, love and kindness. It was much appreciated and will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Caroline’s memory to the Madison Public Library Foundation or PBS Wisconsin in support of her lifelong passion for reading and love of public television.
