Caroline M Sornson

Caroline M. Sornson, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Nazareth House in Stoughton.   She was born in Hubbard, Iowa on November 9, 1918, a daughter of Otto and Bertha (Krabbenhoft) Kath.   On December 20, 1946, she was united in marriage to Olin Sornson in Stoughton.   Caroline was a devoted mother and her family was the center of her life.   She cared about people and found ways to care for them.   Caroline worked with her husband Ole at the McFarland High School for many years, and enjoyed the children there, attending all their activities and games.   She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (David) Sawyer , McFarland; 2 sons, Willard (Jean Koch) Sornson, Rio and Dennis (Linda Sheahan) Sornson, Oregon; 6 grandchildren, Jon, Jennifer (Brian), Sarah (Mike), Thomas (Kristin), Crystal (Ben), and Emily; 3 great grandsons, Benjamin, Tyler and James; 3 sisters, Gladys (Arvin) Kramer, Lorraine (Fred) Schiltz, and June (Vernon) Lilke; 2 brothers, Otis and Walda Kath; and many nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her husband Olin in 2001, and by a sister, Esther.   Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 11:00 am at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Rd., McFarland with the Rev. Jerome Pribbenow officiating.   Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove.   The family will greet friends on Thursday from 4pm to 7 pm at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in McFarland, and again at church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.   Memorials may be made in Caroline's name to the Humane Society.   Olson-Holzhuter-Cress 5801 Hwy 51 McFarland 608-838-0655 www.CressFuneralService.com
