Carolyn A. Akre

Madison - Carolyn Akre (O'Mara / Bongiovanni), age 87, was born to Sam and Vincinza Bongiovanni April 7^th, 1923 in Madison. Carolyn passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center. She was preceded in death by her brother Nick (Shorty) Bongiovanni, and two sisters, Mary Parisi and Carman Bongiovanni. Carolyn is survived by her sister Rose Scott, her daughter Maureen Armstrong , her son William O'Mara, six grandchildren, John, Michelle, Allison, Jeff, Amanda, Garrett and eight great grandchildren, Christopher, Zoey, Samantha, Emily, Rayal, AnMarie, Aidan, MyKaela. Carolyn could work magic with a needle and thread; she loved making clothes for her grandchildren and decorating her home. She loved traveling abroad to places like Switzerland, Italy and Japan to name a few. She enjoyed cooking, those old Italian family recipes.  Christmas was Carolyn's favorite holiday.  She would place decorations all over the house and then complain about how much work it was, but would do it again the next year.  A private service was held at Hospice. The family wishes to thank the Hospice Care workers and Oregon Main St Quarters staff who provided her loving care over the past years and weeks.
