Carolyn Lorang

June 5, 1944 — June 14, 2017

Sun Prairie - Carolyn Francis Lorang (Lemancik), age 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Agrace Hospice Center after a courageous battle with a recurrence of cancer. She was the daughter of Edmund and Emma (Ashenbrenner) Lemancik of Stevens Point. She married Richard Lorang on April 16, 1966, in Stevens Point.

Carolyn spent her life nurturing her family, and those around her, with love, humor and an enthusiasm for life and learning. She graduated from Stevens Point in 1966 with a B.A. in sociology and psychology. Family was her top priority. She put her heart and soul into instilling the values of faith and family unity (which always included her amazing cooking!) to those she loved dearly. Carolyn also shared her values and love of learning with the students and staff of West High School in Madison, where she worked as a counselor's aide and ran the career resource center for 23 years; guiding many students on their first steps to follow their dreams. After her retirement, she continued to focus on the goals of her family. She was their greatest fan. She traveled, as she had always hoped to, with her husband, Richard, taking in the beauty of this country and other destinations of interest. During their travels, they became collectors of antiques. They spent countless hours lovingly restoring and cataloging the treasures they found together. The love she gave and sacrifices she made will continue to serve as an example to those who loved and knew her. She will be remembered, loved and missed most dearly.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Richard Lorang of 51 years; daughter, Amy (Robert) Belan; sons, William (Tara) Lorang, and Steven Lorang; grandchildren, Cassaundra Selkurt, Chloe Selkurt, Emma Lorang, Hunter Lorang and Hope and Miles Belan; a great-granddaughter, Lila Selkurt; her siblings, Edmund (Juanita) Lemancik, Patricia Redding, Mary Ellen (Mike) Conklin, and her sister-in-law, Donna (Donald) Lorang; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother-in-laws, Donald Lorang, Darrel Lorang, and Erv Redding, and her sister-in-law, Norma Kramer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Donn Heiar presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Memorials can be made to Carolyn's family to be donated to Boy Scout Troop #297 of Stevens Point, and to the needs of the students at Parkview Elementary School of Cudahy.
