Catherine M. ""Katie"" Ballweg, age 94, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2009. Katie was born on July 4, 1914, in the Town of Roxbury to Adam and Julia (Werla) Bong. She was united in marriage to Mathias ""Math"" Ballweg on Oct. 29, 1935, at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury. They farmed in the Town of Springfield for many years and enjoyed 62 years of marriage until Math's death on Jan. 9, 1998. Katie is survived by her children and grandchildren; Lloyd (Darlene) Ballweg of Belleville, and their children, Brian (Vicki) Ballweg of Poynette, Tim (Kim) Ballweg of Verona, Michael (friend, Dawn) of Oregon, and Lisa (Ron) Wallom of Belleville; David (Rosie) Ballweg of Middleton, and their children, Karen (Jamie) Geschke of Mequon, Nancy (Ben) Gillmore of Holmen, and Jenny (Kevin) Piette of Waunakee; Jane of Waunakee, and her daughter, Jill (Fred) Ballweg-Zimbric of Wylie, Texas; Barbara (George) Dorn of Lodi, and their children, Jacqueline (Ken) Smith of Baraboo, and Jeffrey (fiance, Heidi) Dorn of Mesa, Ariz.; 21 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Bong, Ethel Ballweg and Margaret Ballweg, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Ballweg; her brothers, Frank, John, Norbert, and Eddie Bong; and a grandson, Mark Ballweg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009, at ST. PETER'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7121 County Trunk K, Ashton, with Father Bud Hollfelder presiding. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2009, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the WINN-CRESS FUNERAL HOME in Waunakee, and again at the church on Monday, May 18, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Katie will be remembered as an excellent cook and baker (especially pies), a quilter, euchre and solo player, vegetable gardener, strawberry grower, and lover of flowers.
