Catherine Kopp

August 29, 1920 — January 22, 2015

Catherine Magdalene (Ruppert) Kopp, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living. She was born on Aug 29, 1920 in Dodgeville to Frank and Elizabeth (Dallas) Ruppert.

She was united in marriage to Donavan Kopp on Nov 20, 1945. Catherine and Don enjoyed 67 years of marriage and lived in Waunakee all of their married life. They traveled for several years before deciding to winter in Florida which they did for 19 fun filled years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church were she was involved with the Christian Mothers. She worked for many years at what is now US Bank. Catherine volunteered for RSVP for years delivering meals-on-wheels and transporting people to appointments.

Catherine enjoyed gardening, playing cards, golfing, fishing, bowling and bingo. She also enjoyed embroidery, every Christmas her family looked forward to receiving their newly decorated dish towels. She was an avid Packer fan, going to games with Don and friends for many years. She also liked watching the Badgers, Brewers and especially enjoyed cheering on and supporting her children and grandchildren in their activities. Catherine was a wonderful cook and especially liked sharing her delicious rhubarb pies with her children and grandchildren every spring.

Catherine is survived by her 5 children, James (Vicki), Jane (Joe) Schneider, Nancy (James) Hellenbrand, Mary (Thomas) Acker, Jerry; her 10 grandchildren, Lisa (Ben), Mike (Lisa), Joel (Jenny), Jay (Marieka), Janelle, Kristin (Chad), Erik (Lindsey), Jason (Jena), Justin (Heather), Jared (Amy) and her 17 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother John and her sisters-in-law Delores Ruppert, Mary Kopp, Doris (Clarence) Dahmen, Kathleen (Larry) Thornton, and brother-in-law Robert (Shirley) Kopp. She is also survived by her AFS daughter from Brazil, Angela (Lauro) Freitas and her daughters, Any and July; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Anna Mae and husband Gil Steffes, her brother, Ernest; her sister-in-law Joella and husband Carl Endres, brother-in-law Joseph Kopp Jr and wives Marcy and Julie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Jan 28, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St. in Waunakee. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q in Waunakee and will continue from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery will follow mass.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Dr. James Nettum, his nurse, Christina, Waunakee EMS, Waunakee Manor and Agrace HospiceCare for the loving and compassionate care given to our mother over the years.
