Catherine Lorence

MADISON - Catherine Lorence, age 55, of Madison, died on Saturday, August 20, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 9, 1956, in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Walter and Eleanor Gojmerac. Catherine graduated from Madison Memorial High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned a BBA majoring in accounting. Catherine married John Lorence on January 26, 1980. They raised two great children, Jeffery and Megan, and celebrated 31 anniversaries together.

Catherine was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She was a wonderful cook and baker. Her kringle is legendary. Catherine enjoyed the company of family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, travel, sewing and needlework.

Catherine was proud to be a career state employee, working at the Wisconsin Departments of Transportation, Employee Trust Funds, and Health Services. She retired in July of this year.

Catherine is survived by her husband, John; their children, Jeffrey and Megan; her parents, Walter and Eleanor; a brother, David (Krystie) Gojmerac; three sisters, Ellen Gojmerac (Dan Olsen), Janet Gojmerac (Ted Underhill), and Karen (Dennis) Waldo; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

To celebrate her life, a visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, at 10 am, on August 25, 2011 followed by a service at 11 am. Catherine was bright, beautiful, and a joy to be with. Her life ended too soon but her memory will live on. Memorials may be made to the cancer-fighting organization of your choice.
