Cecelia Anna Speel Zwicker, age 101, of Sun Prairie passed away on Thurs., Dec. 14, 2023 in Madison, WI. She was born on April 28, 1922 in Appleton, WI, the daughter of Anna Keilman Speel Hart and Juluis M. Speel. 

She married John H. Zwicker on July 9, 1949 in Appleton. Cecelia attended Lawrence College in Appleton for two years, from Sept. 1940 through May of 1942. While attending college she worked as a sales clerk for the Gay Frock Shop in Appleton.

From Feb. of 1942 to Nov. of 1943 she worked as a library assistant in Muskegon, MI. She then worked for the US Dept. of Agriculture as a library assistant (Sp-4) Washington, D.C.. Cecelia was an avid gardener in 4 different gardening zones! She made many natural wreaths for doors in her homes in New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Florida. Her hobbies included curling, golf, sewing and refinishing antique furniture. She was an active Girl Scout leader in Pelham, NY and was the Adoration Chapel Coordinator at Sacred Heart Parish in Pinehurst, NC.

Survivors include her children, Ann Zwicker, Ellen (Dan) Curtin, Kathy Zwicker, Barb Streber, John (Cyndie Stone) Zwicker, Paul (Linda) Zwicker, and Julie (Steve) Hyde; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; 2 sisters, Joan Marie Schwarz and Marian Elizabeth Morrissey; her brother, Francis Leo Speel; and son-in- law, Michael Streber.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday April 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church 209 South St. Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to SSM Hospice at 2802 Walton Commons Lane, Madison WI   53718.
