Cecil W Johnson, age 95, formally of Milwaukee, WI. passed away on February 13, 2019 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg WI.
Cecil was born in Chippewa Falls, WI. The son of Edward and Marie Johnson. A veteran of WWII, he was stationed in England where he met his wife of 73 years, Kathleen. After the war, they returned to Chippewa Falls and later moved to Milwaukee. Cecil was on the ground floor at the beginning of the computer era. Starting as a key punch operator, he transferred to data processing and then became a computer programmer. His interests were varied. He loved to write and was especially proud that two of his short biographical stories were published in the Milwaukee Journal's ""Green Sheet."" An avid genealogist, he with his wife researched their family trees and were able to track down a family member whose date of birth was 1750. Cecil also enjoyed travel. A highlight was his ""once in a lifetime"" trip to Egypt. A fighter, he waged a lengthy 30 plus year battle with colon cancer. He died peacefully with his family at his side.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, a brother (Rolland) and sister (Virginia). He is survived by his wife Kathleen, daughter Ellen, son -in-law James and grandson, Benjamin.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to a charity of your choice.
