Chad Bescup

January 8, 1978 — July 24, 2021

Surrounded by his family and friends, Chad William Bescup passed away at UW Hospital on July 24, 2021, at the age of 43, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, Covid-19, and other complications of hospital acquired infections while residing at Select Hospital for the last 10 months.

Chad was born to Barb Krebs (Bortz) and Michael Bescup and he grew up in Sun Prairie, WI playing baseball and pond hockey.  His passion for sports continued throughout his life with his love of the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Bears, and Chicago Blackhawks. Chad enjoyed music, and cooking, along with gardening. He also managed his adult friends softball team which would usually end up with drinks after at the VFW.

The happiest day of Chad’s life was the birth of his son, Jackson. Chad embraced his role as a stay-at-home dad throughout Jackson’s toddler years, where they formed a very special father-son bond. Chad volunteered at Jackson’s school, side-line coached his baseball teams, and always proudly watched him play baseball. He taught Jackson how to shoot guns, play baseball, and enjoyed going on summer camping trips.

Chad enjoyed spending time with many friends, doing cookouts and campfires and especially making people laugh. He was truly “the life of the party” and had a fun-loving personality that everyone in the room was drawn to. His sense of humor and contagious laughter always had those close by hysterically laughing. As much as people knew hanging out with him would typically end with a killer “VodkaChad” hangover. He was the type of man that people would drive 16 hours at the drop of a hat to come to see. He was witty, loyal, and deeply loved by all his family and friends.

Chad is survived by his son, Jackson Bescup; mother, Barb (Jim) Krebs; brother, Todd (Elaine) Bescup; nephew/Godson, Brennan Bescup; niece, Brooke Bescup; and Godson, Sayers VanDusen, and grandfather Ken Rozinski. Chad is also survived by many close friends and partners-in-crime including Michelle/Jeff, Sara, Becky, Mark, Jay/Jess, Quinn/Mariah, Danny, Rene, Brian (Keeno), Justin, and so many more.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Joel Bescup; niece, Lindsay Bescup; father, Michael Bescup; grandmothers, Lois Bescup and Juanita Rozinski; and grandfathers, William Bescup.

There will be a celebration of life for Chad on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the East Side Club in Monona from 3-10. Please bring your stories and friendship.
