Charles Francis Enger age 73, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2017 after a short battle with a rare brain disease. Unfortunately, "Rumors of his death have NOT been greatly exaggerated"!
He was the son of Elvin and Anna Mueller Enger. He is survived by two children, Jacob R. Enger and Michelle (Michael) Brinkman. Two grandchildren, Vanessa and Christina Brinkman, one sister, Ella Marie Enger a brother, Richard C. Enger one aunt, Gloria Enger, many cousin , wonderful friends and his beloved dog, Macy; who incidentally needs a new home.
Charlie graduated in 1962 from Ithaca High School and on graduation day, announced he was joining the Navy. After his military service was done, his elevator career began. He never really retired; working his whole life in the elevator business until the end where he was still consulting. He would refer to himself as an "ascention engineer".
Charlie enjoyed his collection of various mechanical things and going to Culvers with his brother, Richard, to swap stories and show off a car. Anyone who knew him; knew he loved Culvers and pie. His greatest joy was being able to help someone who was dealing with the "struggles of life".
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday July 13th at Cress Funeral Home 3610 Speedway Road. Family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial and a reception will follow.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee for the wonderful care he received in his last days.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fisher House or the Alzheimer Association.
Please share your memories of Charlie.
