Charles M. Frenchman, age 73, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, August 29th, 2011. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family at the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
He was born on March 18, 1938 in Winnebago, NE. Being an ironworker was something that he loved and was very proud of. He loved constructing buildings that could stand the test of time, buildings that people would use and enjoy for years to come. This work took him all around the United States where he finally settled in Wisconsin and spent many happy years with his wife Sheila (Champeny) Frenchman. Charles was a proud Native American, loved to cook, listen to jazz music, watch the Chicago Bears and loved a good adventure.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Frenchman; three children; Crystal (Brad) Ross of Winnebago, NE, Charleen Frenchman of Minneapolis, MN, and Lori (Ken) Westphal of Waunakee, WI, 8 grandchildren; Kristin (Sam) VanLoon, Trisha Ross, Shane Ross, Deliah (Rocky) Kearnes, Jennifer Devlin, Haley Devlin, Owen Westphal and Abigail Westphal, 6 great-grandchildren; Braden VanLoon, Isaiah VanLoon, Eliana VanLoon, Caleb Kearnes, Rocco Kearnes, Riddic Kearnes, two brothers; James Frenchman, Richard Frenchman, three sisters; Winona (Charles) Rice, Marian Holstein, LaDonna Holstein all of Winnebago, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by is mother Dorothy Holstein and father Richard Frenchman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at the Winn Cress Funeral Home, 5785 HWY Q, Waunakee, WI followed by a luncheon at Rex's InnKeeper, HWY 113 North, Waunakee.
