Charles Bernard Small, Jr., known to friends and family as "Chuck," passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 at the age of 74 years.
Charles leaves his wife of 49 years, Sarah D. Small; their six children: Charles Small III, David (Candice), Wayne, Sharon, Michael (Jessica) and Ryan; and their four grandchildren.
He was born on July 27, 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey and graduated from Notre Dame High School. Charles continued his education at Rider University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1966.
Charles enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corp Reserves from 1966-1973.
In July of 1966, he started his career as a traveling auditor with Hertz. In 1968, he took his CPA exam and became a Certified Public Accountant. He had a successful career as the Chief Financial Officer at Woodward & Dickerson and Conagra Brands in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1988, the family moved to Janesville, Wisconsin and Charles continued his CPA practice as a Tax Consultant.
Charles and Sarah moved to Las Vegas in 1997 where they spent 16 years enjoying warmer weather, the fun of casinos, and the entertainment of live shows. They relocated to Madison, WI in April of 2013 to be closer to family for health reasons until his death.
Charles was an avid reader, enjoyed playing and watching sports, playing cards, watching movies, and was known as a history buff.
In keeping with Charles' wishes, there will be a small mass served in his memory on December 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at ALL SAINTS RETIREMENT COMMUNITY.
