Deerfield – Charles “Charlie” Vandergriff, 46, of Deerfield, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 16, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 15, 1978, in Peoria, IL, he was the son of Charles and Veronica (VanAcker) Vandergriff.
Charlie graduated from Elkhorn High School and met the love of his life, Stephanie, in 2005 while working at Menards. They exchanged vows on July 17, 2010, in Madison, WI. A dedicated worker, Charlie was a proud member of Local 314, most recently employed at Sergenian's Floor Coverings.
Charlie's greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved wife and daughters, Harper (10) and Claire (6). Family was his world, and his loyal dog, Tigger, was always by his side. He cherished camping trips, traveling, and maintaining his yard, and he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Charlie also had a fondness for premium lager, particularly Icehouse, which he enjoyed sharing with neighbors around the fire pit, even if few joined in.
Though Charlie was a man of few words, his love for those around him was profound and palpable.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his daughters, Harper and Claire; his mother; father-in-law J.R. (Deb) Brimmer; mother-in-law Lori Adams; grandparents Mary Lee Brimmer, Jeanne and Peder Moren, Jerry and Gwen Splinter; brother-in-law Adam (Allison) Brimmer; sister-in-law Allison Brimmer; nephews Nicolas and Benjamin Brimmer; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and cherished friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Harold and Ann VanAcker, and James Brimmer.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The Rail House, 12 S. Industrial Park Road, Deerfield, WI 53531. Join us for the Packer game—feel free to wear your Packer gear!
