Charles “Chuck” Eastman Arnold II passed away at University Hospital on August 4, 2022. Born on July 8, 1947, to parents Ruth and Charles Arnold in Madison, Wisconsin, Chuck shared 49 years with his cherished wife Linda Susan “Sue” Thomas whom he married in November of 1972.
Chuck was a 1965 graduate of East High School in Madison, a 1969 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York with a degree in engineering, and a 1971 MBA graduate of the State University of New York at Albany. Chuck was a member of ROTC and was honorably discharged as a Captain in the Army Corps of Engineers. He worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron Company in Greenville, Pennsylvania before joining Mechanical Systems, Inc. (MSI) in 1972. Chuck became President of MSI in 1977, a position he held until his retirement in 2018.
A devoted, hard-working husband, father and grandfather, Chuck is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Kathryn (Ruediger) and Christopher (Darlene); as well as his two granddaughters of whom he was especially proud, Katarina (9) and Kallista (8). He is also survived by his brothers, John and William Arnold. Chuck was an avid ham-radio operator, conservationist who planted and restored trees to their natural beauty and a longtime participant in pick-up hockey and ice skating.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents, in-laws, and an infant sister Ruthann in 1946. A private ceremony will occur in the Madison area.
