Christine E. Nesvig, age 83, passed peacefully on Thursday, September 4 at Agrace Hospice Care in Madison, Wisconsin.
Chris was born February 27, 1931, in Venice, Illinois. Chris was a beautiful and strong woman who was intelligent, full of life, and liked to have fun. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, fishing, bowling, crossword puzzles, Packer games, and yearly trips to Florida. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, and always welcomed having lots of kids in her home.
While living in the DeKalb, Illinois area in the early 1960s, Chris was President of the Women's Auxiliary of the Veteran's Association of Sycamore, Illinois, where she was a key person in raising funds to open Opportunity House in Sycamore, Illinois.
In 1969, Chris moved to northeastern Wisconsin and was a resident of the northwoods she loved for 40 years. She was a hard-worker and held a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. Chris was known for her kindness and helping others and spent her last years up north as a personal caregiver for people in the community needing assistance and companionship. Chris later moved to the Madison area to be closer to family and enjoy her retirement.
Chris is survived by her two sons Chuck (Kathy) Cress of Sarasota, FL and Jack (Ellen) Cress, of DeKalb, IL, her daughter Carrie (Greg) Sparks of Madison, WI, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 2 great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Malise Evans; son Carl John; daughter Carla Christine; and grand-daughter Jacqueline Marie.
A memorial luncheon will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the Community Room of Prairie Park Senior Apartments, 6530 Schroeder Rd, Madison, WI 53711.
Chris' family sends their heartfelt gratitude to all of the wonderful and compassionate nurses and doctors at Agrace Hospice who cared for Chris as if she was their own mother.
