Waunakee: Christine M. (Janowski) O’Connor, age 63 passed away Monday April 22, 2024 at Agrace HospiceCare in Janesville. She was born March 23, 1961 in Kewaunee, WI the daughter of James and Judith (Flaherty) Janowski. Chris married Paul O’Connor April 20, 1985 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Christine was a 1979 graduate of Roncalli High School in Manitowoc After that, she pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, graduating in 1983. Additionally, she obtained her CPA license in the same year, which opened up various career opportunities for her in the field of accounting. She was employed by UW Health for over 20 years as the Director of Treasury. Christine was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, godmother and friend. She touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
One of Chris’s quotes was: “Remember, Life is not a Hallmark movie.”
Chris is survived by her husband of 39 years, Paul; her son Brandon (finance Ashley Filtz) O’Connor, grandchildren Nathan, Benny, and Katelyn daughter Alicia (Brandon) Nesemeier, granddaughter Rylie, and future grandson Connor, coming in May. Her mother Judith Janowski, Manitowoc, her siblings Steve (Lori) Janowski, Green Bay WI, Mark (Julia) Janowski, Green Bay WI, Dennis Janowski and Tim Johnson, Minneapolis MN, Greg (Valerie) Janowski, Dacula GA, Julie (Tim) Peot, Manitowoc WI. Her Mother in law Sharon O’Connor, Fort Atkinson her three sister and brother in laws Denise (Bill) Coffee, Vanceburg KY, Erin( David)Drake, Fort Atkinson, Cara (Jeff), North Praire WI. nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father James Janowski and father in law Dennis O’Connor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South Street, Waunakee, WI 53597. The family will greet guests from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who cared for Christine at Agrace HospiceCare for their care and compassion given to Christine and her family. Also to the staff at UW Hospital Carbone Cancer Center.
