Christopher A. Marschman of Sun Prairie, age 42, passed to his eternal home with the Lord on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, surrounded by loving family and friends. Christopher was born on May 10, 1967 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Dennis and Virginia (Rachoner) Marschman. He was a graduate of Waukesha South High School, attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from UW-Milwaukee. On July 24, 1999 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Persen and was blessed in 2002 to adopt her daughters Stephanie and Sarah. Christopher worked for the State of Wisconsin for 15 years, first with the Department of Health and Family Services and most recently with the Department of Workforce Development as a Communications Specialist. Chris loved the Lord and served Him through Grace Evangelical Church as Financial Secretary and with website administration. Cooking was one of his favorite pastimes, and he was known for his award-winning chili, homemade pizza, German maultaschen, muffins, cookies, and several of his own ""signature"" creations. He also found enjoyment in fishing, golf, camping, computers, and swimming. He took great joy in annual family vacations to Grindstone Lake near Hayward, Wisconsin. Survivors include his wife Kathleen, Sun Prairie; daughters Stephanie Maze-Marschman and Sarah Marschman; parents Dennis and Virginia ""Ginny"" Marschman, Waukesha; brother Chad (Susan) Marschman, Muskego; nephews Connor and Mason Marschman; and other relatives and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his beloved sister Carrie Marschman. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Grace Evangelical Church, 4127 County Highway AB (Buckeye Road), Cottage Grove with Pastor Paul Bawden officiating. Visitations will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Cress Funeral Home in Sun Prairie and on Friday, January 8, 2010 at the church, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Sun Prairie Cemetery. The family requests that memorial gifts be designated for cancer research at Mayo Clinic.
