Claire A. Tofte

Cottage Grove/Stoughton- Claire Alvin Tofte, age 59, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, May 20, 2010.  He was born in Stoughton on October 8, 1950, the son of Ferdinand and Opal (Mahoney) Tofte.  Claire enlisted in the Marines and served honorably as Military Police.  He enjoyed a lengthy career as an auto body specialist with Stoughton Trailers, Two Buck Auto Body and R.G. Huston Company.  Claire enjoyed circle track racing and his beloved pets.  He is survived by his fiance, Judy Behnke; two sons, Adam Gohre and Todd (Michelle Marolis) Tofte; grandson, Slade Gohre; devoted friends, Cesar Salinas and Mati Nevarez; and many relatives and friends.  Claire was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect Street, Stoughton.  Burial, with full Military Honors, will follow at Eastside Cemetery.  Friends may greet the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services.  Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.  Claire was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
