Madison/Black Earth -- Clarence Neil Daniels, age 82, passed away Jan. 26, 2011 at Meriter Hospital. Â Neil was born June 26, 1928 in Pendleton, Oregon to William ""Buck"" and Helen (Denson) Daniels. Â He married Adeline Anderson in Salem, Oregon on Aug. 4, 1956. Â Neil graduated from La Grande High School, La Grande, Oregon in 1946 and from Oregon State University in 1953. Â He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Yuma, Arizona and Ft. Churchill, Canada. Â Neil worked as a surveyor, forest firefighter, and bridge engineer for Oregon Dept. of Transportation and FHWA. Â He was a member of ASCE, Toastmasters, and Schwoegler's Statehouse Bowling League. Â Neil is survived by his wife; children Michael (Laura) and Debra (David) Nelson; grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Daniels, and Alex and Marta Nelson; sisters-in-law Alice Wilhyde and Amy Biggins; and other family in Oregon and Washington. Â He was preceded by his parents, sister Barbara DeFries, niece Nancy DeFries, and brothers-in-law David Wilhyde and Gerald Biggins. Â A visitation will be held from10 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2011 at Cress Funeral Service, Speedway Road, Madison. Â Burial will follow at Forest Hill in Madison.
