Clarence Neil Daniels

June 26, 1928 — January 26, 2011

Madison/Black Earth -- Clarence Neil Daniels, age 82, passed away Jan. 26, 2011 at Meriter Hospital.   Neil was born June 26, 1928 in Pendleton, Oregon to William ""Buck"" and Helen (Denson) Daniels.   He married Adeline Anderson in Salem, Oregon on Aug. 4, 1956.   Neil graduated from La Grande High School, La Grande, Oregon in 1946 and from Oregon State University in 1953.   He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Yuma, Arizona and Ft. Churchill, Canada.   Neil worked as a surveyor, forest firefighter, and bridge engineer for Oregon Dept. of Transportation and FHWA.   He was a member of ASCE, Toastmasters, and Schwoegler's Statehouse Bowling League.   Neil is survived by his wife; children Michael (Laura) and Debra (David) Nelson; grandchildren Jacob and Joshua Daniels, and Alex and Marta Nelson; sisters-in-law Alice Wilhyde and Amy Biggins; and other family in Oregon and Washington.   He was preceded by his parents, sister Barbara DeFries, niece Nancy DeFries, and brothers-in-law David Wilhyde and Gerald Biggins.   A visitation will be held from10 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 29, 2011 at Cress Funeral Service, Speedway Road, Madison.   Burial will follow at Forest Hill in Madison.
