Clarence Guetzkow

Madison - Clarence August Guetzkow, age 89, passed away March 2, 2012, surrounded by family at Meriter Hospital after a brief illness.
Clarence was born in Prairie Du Sac, on May 21, 1922. Clarence married Mary Jean (Steiner) on October 6, 1962. After they were married, they moved to Madison to start a family. Clarence worked as an automotive mechanic for 40 plus years, working for Zimbrick Buick for more than half his career. Clarence was a very active member of his church. He sang in the church choir, ushered for Sunday services and played on the church dart ball league. Clarence loved to surround himself with family and friends and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Clarence is survived by a son, Marc (special friend JoAnn Kenne) Guetzkow, of Unity; a daughter, Kathryn (Andy) Elkins, of New Glarus; a brother, Milton (Delores) Guetzkow, of Wausau; grandchildren Ethan and Emily Elkins, of New Glarus; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, August Herman and Molly (Gergolla) Guetzkow; a brother Ivan Guetzkow; and his sisters Alice Guetzkow and Florence (Art) Ganser.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation and service on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at MIDVALE COMMUNITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4329 Tokay Blvd., Madison, WI 53711. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. There will be a luncheon at the church after the service. A burial service will be held after the luncheon at Forest Hill Cemetery. Please direct donations in memory of Clarence to Meriter Foundation, 202 S. Park Street, Madison, WI 53715 (Cardiovascular Services).
