Stoughton- Clifford D. Bakken, age 93, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Skaalen Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Stoughton on March 2, 1929, the son of Obert and Olga Bakken.
Cliff graduated from Stoughton High School in 1947. He volunteered in the Army National Guard for 9 years. On April 24, 1954 Cliff married Helen Hoel. Together they enjoyed camping, playing cards, and going out to eat.
Cliff was on the Stoughton Fire Department for 24 years. He drove a fuel truck for DX and Sinclair for many years. Cliff worked in maintenance for the Stoughton Area School District. He returned to truck driving and retired from Johnson Oil. Cliff was a member of First Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen; three children, Michael (Diane), Cynthia (Donald Peterson) Furseth, and Mark (Jan); five grandchildren, Nick (Jessica), Amanda (Nash), Shane (Molly), Mitch, and Nicole (Shawn); and great grandchildren, Kolton, Luke, and Waylon. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2022 at First Lutheran Church, 310 E. Washington Street, Stoughton, with Rev. Richard Halom officiating. Lunch will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private burial will take place at Eastside Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of services at church.
