Madison -- Clifford W. ""Bud"" Bowers, age 87 passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 .  Cliff is being mourned by his cherished wife, sons, family and friends.  He was born in 1923 to Clifford and Myra Bowers in Cuba City , raised in Fennimore and Monford.  Farming with his brother, Bob (Ardy) and sisters, Dolly and Mary Ellen (Ron).  He started his education riding his pony with his brother to a one room schoolhouse in Angus Mills.  Then on to college in Platteville, then after the war, UW-Madison.  Cliff served his country  as a fighter pilot in Europe in WWII with the distinction of ace in P51 Mustangs then into the jet age, also chartering the Air National Guard of Wisconsin.  Cliff married his beloved bride Patricia Bailey in 1949 holding hands for the next 61 years.  He was the proud father of two sons, Cliff and Perry.  Working for NCR for the next 35 years, Cliff was an natural and proudly finished his career in 1985.  From top pilot, to NCR 's top salesman, listing all of his accolades would fill a book.  A man of humility, he was well regarded and respected, held in high esteem by all who knew him.  Cliff was a generous, warm hearted benevolent fast friend, a hail fellow well met.  You will be missed old friend.  A casual celebration for this wonderful man will be held Sun. Sept. 26th at the MADISON   ELKS  LODGE,  711  Jenifer St.,  Madison, WI 53703, from 1-4 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made in Buds name to HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy.  Madison, WI  53711.
