Clifford J. Frey Dec 3, 1930 – July 8, 2024 Waunakee Wi
Cliff Frey, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8th at the age of 93. His departure leaves a void in our hearts that words cannot fill, but his legacy of wisdom, compassion, and generosity will continue to inspire us all. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives.
Cliff was born on Dec 3rd, 1930, in Roxbury Wi., to William and Mary (Bongard) Frey, the sixth of seven children. He graduated from Union Free High School in Mazomanie Wi Class of 1949 and shortly thereafter entered his tour of duty in the Korean War. Upon his return, Cliff married his sweetheart Marguerite (Maggie) Messer in 1954, and they started their family in Middleton Wi.
As a father, Cliff was a constant source of guidance and support. He nurtured his children, Mary Lalor (Tom) Madison Wi., Steven (Georgia) Frey, Orange County Ca., and Patrick (Mary) Frey, Prairie Du Sac Wi., with unwavering love and patience, always offering a listening ear and sage advice. His grandchildren, Bryan (Kristi) Lalor, Breanna (Garrett) Baltzer, Linsey, Candice, Kirsten Frey, Cassie Frey, and Cory Mellum, will forever cherish the memories of his caring spirit. “GiGi,” as he was called by his great grandchildren Bowen and Blakely, will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Cliff made many friends throughout his career and was recently recognized for his 70 years of membership in the Sheet Metal Workers International Union. His professional and personal accomplishments were numerous, but it was his personal integrity and kindness that truly set him apart.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maggie in July 2007, parents Mary and William, brothers Warner, Lester and Earl, sisters Laurine and Delores, and numerous other family members and very dear friends. In addition to family mentioned above, he is survived by his younger sister, Joan Peterson in Dallas Tx.
Cliff’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Amber at Waunakee Valley Assisted living as well as nurses Mandy, Crystal, Rachel, and all the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for the kind and compassionate care they provided.
