Coletta Mae Mulhern

Coletta Mae (Davis) Mulhern, 92, died peacefully at Maple Wood of Sauk Prairie July 11, 2023. Born in Melrose WI on April 14, 1931 to George and Lydia (Davis) Deans. She married James R. Mulhern on November 3, 1949.

She was a mother of 5 children. After raising her family, she worked as a hostess at O’Kee Lodge and Rex’s Inn Keeper. She also worked for the Waunakee school food service system until her retirement. She loved her position in food service, seeing and working with all the children. She was known as the “Lunch Lady” Coletta’s great grandfather George Fish was one of the founding fathers and gave the name of Waunakee to the village.

Coletta is survived by her sons Jim (Linda), Jeff (Joan), Jay (Le Ann), and her daughter Jody Davenport; 9 grandchildren Brent (Heather), BJ, Doug (Jamie), Brittany, Colton, Dion (Michelle), Tricia (Shane), Jerry (Sue), Chris; 16 great grandchildren, her sister Connie’s son, Michael (Francine) Ranger and many loved nieces, nephews, family and friends, as well as sisters-in-law Gladys and Jayne Mulhern and Dody Dulaney

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 25 years, James Mulhern and their son Jon; her partner Louis “Corky” Meyers, sister Connie, niece Linda and son-in-law, Doug.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee on Friday, July 28, 2023. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Willows Tavern, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
