Colette Taylor

September 22, 1920 — August 5, 2012

Colette Mercier Taylor was born in September of 1920 in Chicoutimi, Quebec and was one of ten sisters. After college, her first job was estimating board feet per acre for a lumber company, which meant measuring average size, and tree density in the forests of northern Quebec. During WW II, to her mother's consternation, she accepted a job with the French Embassy at Blaire House as a diplomatic aid in Washington DC where she worked directly with Charles DeGaulle when he came to Washington. She met her late husband, William Taylor Jr., in Washington, moved to Cambridge, MA and eventually to Cohasset, MA where they raised their two daughters. She worked as a title examiner in Plymouth, MA until she retired in her 70's. She moved to Madison, WI in 2006. Colette passed away August 5, 2012 at Attic Angel Place in Middleton.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Taylor of New York City, and Andre Taylor Valley and her husband John Valley of Madison; two grandsons and their wives, David Valley and Vivian Ferry of Pasadena, CA and Matthew Valley and Claire Lundberg of Paris, France; her great granddaughter, Sophia Valley and three sisters in Quebec.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to Attic Angel Place or to your favorite charity.

A memorial Mass will take place in the Garden Room at Attic Angel Place in Madison on Wednesday, August 8 at 10:30 AM with a reception to follow.

Her unconditional love, charm and sense of humor will be missed by her family and friends. We want to especially thank the kind and loving staff of Attic Angel Place for the care and support they gave her and her family.
