Connie E. Maxwell

Connie E. Maxwell, age 82, of Madison, passed peacefully to her eternal resting place on October 24, 2024 at Oakwood Village East. She was born on February 7, 1942 in Manhattan, Kansas and grew up in Kewanee, Illinois. She received her master’s degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Iowa and worked in that capacity for several years. She spent the remainder of her career in real estate and small business ventures in Madison.

She devoted much of her time to the Madison Symphony Orchestra, the Madison Opera, and Attic Angels. She was active in her PEO chapter AX and regarded those women as true sisters. A highlight of Connie’s life was her eight beloved dachshunds, but the true light of her life was her four grandchildren. She attended as many of their school activities and athletic events as was humanly possible. She loved taking them on downtown adventures, and always had her freezer stocked with their favorites.

During the last few years of her life, she was lovingly cared for by the amazing people at Agape, Oakwood Village East, and Agrace Hospice. Her family will be forever grateful for all those who touched her life. She is survived by her daughter Nancy and son-in-law Mark, her four grandchildren Nick, Anna, Will, and Josh, her sister Julie, and her niece Kelly. She was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Gigi Maxwell, and her niece Christina.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1701 McKenna Blvd, Madison. She will be laid to rest in Galva, Illinois. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Oakwood Village East in her name.
