Curtis A. Roscoe, age 81, died Monday, April 20, 2009 in a Sun Prairie care center. He was born February 23, 1928, in Madison, the son of Harvey and Edith (Weise) Roscoe. He was a veteran of the WW II having served in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Eagles Club. On July 10, 1954, Curtis was united in marriage with Helen Maurer in Madison who preceded him in death on August 9, 2001.  Survivors include 2 sons: Dave ( Pamela Esser) Roscoe of Sun Prairie and William (Karen) Roscoe of Madison; a daughter Lisa (Richard) Showers of McFarland; 10 grandchildren: Tyler, Bryce, Brooke, Taylor, Jason, Danny, Kyle, Lacey, Ryan, Candace and Jeffrey; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mayme York of Portage and Christine Thiessen of Poynette, special cousin Danny Roscoe, his good friend and neighbor Dick Moody and many other family members and friends. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife Helen, and infant son Jeffrey, his parents, 2 brothers: Fredrick and Raymond and a sister Elaine Coleman. Curtis was a very dedicated ironworker foreman until a tragic accident in 1974 when he fell 63 feet from a building in downtown Madison, but that did not stop Curt by any means. He fully recovered after spending over a year in the hospital, and went on to lead a  full and active life that was full of excitement and adventure. Curtis loved to travel, and in his late 70's even took a train trip through Canada and across the country to experience life to its fullest. He loved to play cards, especially euchre, and you had better be good if you were his partner!  A sense of humor is something Curtis did not lack, he was always telling jokes and made sure everyone around him was always having a good time. His love had no boundaries when it came to his wife, children, grandchildren and family, they were his world. He was always there to lend a hand and help anyone out who ever needed him. He tought us perserverance, willpower, dedication and determination and leaves all of us with many stories and memories that will last forever.  There will never be another like Curtis. The family would like to thank the staff at The Willows in Sun Prairie and all the neighbors on Northland Drive for their help and friendship.  ""Good was his heart, his friendship true, loved and respected by all he knew; to a beautiful life came a sudden end; but he died as he lived, everyone's friend.   A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 24 at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL.
