Madison- Cynthia Kay Campbell, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born in Elgin, Illinois, on August 21, 1946, the daughter of Albert and Marion Wermich. Cynthia met the love of her life on February 10, 1965, when she took a seat on a couch at a party next to a handsome man named Jim Campbell. Three years later they were married on May 11, 1968 in Geneva, Illinois.
In 1969, Jim and Cynthia became proud parents to boy and girl twins. Most of Cynthia’s energies were devoted to raising them. She was a lifelong Cubs fan and never missed a Green Bay Packers game. Cynthia loved watching her backyard birds, especially the turkeys. She loved the color yellow, visiting Door County, and the occasional brandy old fashion, especially during “newz and booze” at 5:00 pm with her husband. But spending time with her granddaughters was her favorite pastime. Cynthia will be remembered for her quick wit, incredible sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. To know Cynthia was to love her.
Cynthia graduated from Geneva High School in 1964 and Madison Business College in 1966. She held various secretary positions and worked with her husband in his real estate and property management businesses over the years.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Jim; two children, Kari (Bryant) Fisher and Jeff Campbell; and grandchildren, Allie and Jenna Fisher and Gianna and Francesca Campbell; daughter-in-law, Julia Campbell; and many loving sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marilyn and Marshall Hanks, and brother Brian Wermich.
