Cyril Ripp

Cyril Ripp passed away at the age of 99 on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Cyril entered the world on January 5th, 1925, the day preceding Epiphany, born to John and Elizabeth Ripp in Waunakee, WI. On September 16, 1948, he exchanged vows with Mary Karls. Together, they were blessed with three sons: Dave, Tom, and Steve. Mary died in 1984. He married Irene (Ziegler) Roelke on June 23, 1985.

Cyril spent countless years farming in the Springfield area. He generously assisted neighbors by butchering farm animals. In his leisure time, he thoroughly enjoyed playing cards. Even after reaching the age of 90, Cyril contributed his skills at St. Vinnie's/Sauk, later focusing on fixing numerous jigsaw puzzles for them, often managing three or four simultaneously. Until recently, he resided in Roxbury, where he remained active, still mowing his lawn until just last year. Cyril's presence will be deeply missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons: Dave (Linda); Tom, and Steve (Rena); grandchildren: Darin (Kristina), Lindsey (John), John (Katie) and great-grandchildren: Tegan, Jensen, Kason, and Sophia. He is also survived by stepchildren: Bonnie Beckwith, Dianne (Mark) Maier, Ken Roelke, Donna Lenerz, Jolene (Jim) Meicher, Jeannie (Rich) Wipperfurth, and Randy (Diane) Roelke and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law: Donna Ripp and Helen Karls.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary, and grandson Michael (2018), parents John & Elizabeth and all his siblings: Marie & Leo Pertzborn, Betty & George Marx, Sally & George Miller, Aggie & Clarence Ganser, Viola & Don Mabis, George Ripp, Sylvester Ripp (infant 1934), Ann & Don Woodburn, and John Ripp, in-laws Herb & Carla Karls, Roman & Bernice Karls, Rosella & William Stoffels, Meinrod Karls, and Leona & Joe Ziegler, step-children: Jerry Beckwith, Denise Roelke & Bill Lenerz.

Funeral services will be held on Thurs. March 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St Martins Catholic Church 5959, St Martin Circle in Martinsville. Friends may call at the church on Thurs. from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. A Celebration of Cyril’s Life will follow at the Dorf Haus in Roxbury.
